MISSISSIPPI 8 CONFERENCE

The Mississippi 8 Conference has thirty four state qualifiers, including nineteen section champions. They had thirteen medal winners at the state tournament, including the State Championship AAA Team.

 

SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights defended their Section 5AAA Dual title with three big wins over: Robbinsdale Armstrong 79-0 in the quarterfinals; in the semifinals Wayzata 65-6 and in the championship Lean and Mean Maple Grove 54-12. The Knights had eight wrestlers go 3-0; Brandon Psyk, Nathan Nygaard, Patrcik McGee, Dylan Hanson, Carl Leuer, Wyatt Lidberg, Gabe Anderson and Allen Winters; Cole Jann went 2-1 and Hayden LeMands, Owen Vike and Nolan Schmitz all went 2-0 in the Section duals. The Knights had a very good Section 5AAA Individual tournament with all fourteen placing. They had nine state qualifiers; including six championships by Brandon Psyk, Nathan Nygaard, Patrick McKee, Carl Leuer, Wyatt Lindberg and Gabe Anderson. Nolan Schmitz, Allen Winters and Hayden LeMonds all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. The Knights earned four third places by: Cole Jann, Kyle Elkie, Dylan Hanson and Isaiah Misna and earning fourth place Owen Vike.

The Knights had a great state tournament, in the quarterfinals they defeated Stillwater Area 46-20 and in the semifinals they pulled off a big upset, according to many wrestling fans. They defeated No. 3 ranked and No. 1 Seeded Anoka 31-29, in a very intense dual. In the championship they defeated No. 1 ranked and No. 2 seeded Shakopee 30-25. The No. 3 seeded Knights brought home the championship. Brandon Psyk, Patrick McGee, Carl Leuer, Wyatt Lidberg and Gabe Anderson all went 3-0; Isiah Misna and Nolan Schmitz went 2-1 and Kyle Elkie went 2-0 at the state tournament duals. They earned four individual state medals, led by state champion Patrick McKee at 126, he completed his season unbeaten with a very impressive 49-0 record. Brandon Psyk earned a fifth place medal at 113, he completed his season with a 41-9 record. Wyatt Lidberg earned fifth place at 170, he completed his season with a 38-11. Gabe Anderson earned a sixth place medal at 182, he completed his season with a 37-13 record. Carl Leuer was just one match from earning a medal at 152, he was 36-13 on the season. Nathan Nygaard went 1-2 at 120, he ended with a 33-8 record.

 

CAMBRIDGE-ISANITI BLUEJACKETS

The Bluejackets defeated Blaine in their quarterfinal Section 7AAA dual 47-24 and they were defeated by the No. 3AAA ranked Anoka 38-22. Jacob Mujwid, Madsen Friesz and Martin Puttbrese all went 2-0 in the Section duals. The Bluejackets had a very good Section 7AAA Individual tournament with thirteen place winners, including four state qualifiers. Martin Puttbrese won their lone section championship and Jimmy Brown, Tate Torgerson and Travis Drews all earned second to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Nolan Hentges, Ryan Droubie, Wyatt Kruse and Will Flemister all earned third place. Jacob Mujwid and Mason Friesz both earn fourth place, Payton Doty earned fifth place and Easton Johnson and Dalton Ball both took sixth place.

The Bluejackets had two that earned state tournament medals, Jimmy Brown earned fifth place at 152, he complete his season with a 44-9 record. Martin Puttbrese earned fourth place at 160, he complete his season with a 44-7 record.

 

ST. FRANCIS SAINTS

The Saints defeated defeated Lean and Mean Coon Rapids in the Section 7AAA quarterfinal dual 40-28. The Saints were defeated by No. 7AAA ranked Forest Lake 27-22 in the section semifinals. The Saints had six wrestlers that went 2-0 in the Section duals; Tanner Kunshier, Mike Wasche, Mitchell Wilson, Joey Lipinski, Kyle Lindefeiser and Nick Pierce. The Saints earned ten section 7AAA place winners, including four state qualifiers. Mitchell Wilson, Cole Kirpach and Tanner Kunshier all earned section championships and Nick Pierce earned second place to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Luke Lipinski earned third place and a trio of fourths by: Nick Gerlach, Joey Lipinski and Zach Bonte. Brady Peltier and Mike Waschke both took sixth place for the Saints.

The Saints earned three state tournament medals; they had two wrestlers earn second place. Mitchell Wilson at 145 earned second place, he ended his season with a 26-2 record. Cole Kirpach at 170 earned second place, he ended his season with a 43-5 record. Tanner Kunshier earned sixth place at 126, he ended his season with a 39-11 record. Nick Pierce went 1-2 at 285, he completed his season with a 18-6 record.

 

BIG LAKE HORNETS

The Hornets defeated Albany in the Section 6AA quarterfinal dual 49-18 and they were defeated by the No. 10AA ranked Litchfield 41-21 in the semifinals. The Hornets had four wrestlers that went 2-0 in the section duals; Christian Noble, Ben Morris, Joe Morris and Steven Lloyd. The Hornets earned ten section 6AA place winners, including two state qualifiers. Joe Morris and Christian Noble both won section championships. The Hornets did earn five third places by: Cade Sixberry, Ben Morris, Vince Dailey, Ben Beckers and Steven Lloyd. Ryan Helgoe earned fourth place, Connor Gess earned fifth place and Jackson Gardner took sixth place. The Hornets had one wrestler that earned a state tournament medal, Joe Morris at 152 earned sixth place, he ended his season with a 31-10 record. Christian Noble at 106 went 2-2, just one match short of earning a medal, he ended his season with a 21-5 record.

 

PRINCETON TIGERS

The Tigers defeated Milaca in their Section 7AA quarterfinal dual 37-36 and they were defeated by Lean and Mean Grand Rapids 48-27. The Tigers had four wrestlers that went 2-0; Landen Parent, Zack Wells, Jacob Chase and Justin Zahner. The Tigers earned eleven Section 7AA place winners, including three state qualifiers. They won three section championships by; Colton Hellman, Zach Wells and Landen Parent. Kaleb Adkins earned third place and Avery Jorgenson earned fourth place. Malachi Kolhoff, Josh Marshall and Josh Fuller all earned fifth place and Justin Zahner, Jacob Chase and Zach Marshall all took sixth place.

The Tigers had one wrestler that earned a medal; Landen Parent at 106, earned second place. He completed his freshman season with an impressive 41-3 record. Zach Wells at 113 went 1-2, he completed his season with a 29-13 record. Colton Hellman at 285 went 1-2, a senior ended his wrestling career with a 35-5 record.

 

BUFFALO BISON

The Bison defeated Osseo in the Section 5AAA quarterfinal dual 50-13 and they were defeated by AAA Lean and Mean Maple Grove 35-27. The Bison had five go 2-0 in the section duals; Ryan Scherber, Jacob Scherber, Thomas Samson, Taavi Larson and Riley Habisch. The Bison had a good section 5AAA section tournament with thirteen place winners, including three state qualifiers. Riley Habisch and Jacob Scherber both won section championships and Ryan Scherber earned second place to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Ben Ruhr earned third place and a trio of Bison earned fourth place: Owen Herbst, Anthony Urbanski and Josh Anderson. Hunter Hendricks and Seamus Filkins both earned fifth place and John Dahlheimer, Taavi Larson, Caleb Drews and Nathan DesMarais all took sixth place.

The Bison had two that earned state tournament medals; Jacob Scherber earned second place at 195. Jacob, a senior ended his career with an impressive 34-2 season record. Riley Habisch at 160, earned third place, he ended his season with a 32-6 record. Ryan Scherber at 113 went 1-2, he completed his season with a 31-9 record.

 

ROGERS ROYALS

The Royals were defeated in their section 5AAA quarterfinal dual by Wayzata 37-36 on criteria. The Royals earned ten place winners including four state qualifiers at the Section 5AAA Individual tournament. Bret Wilson won their lone section championship and Sam Essendrup, Wil Yasseri and Jake Born all earned second place to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Tommy Andersen and Donovan Slawin both earned fourth place and Ryan Lund and Anthony Lenz both earned fifth place. Gavin Eicher and Jon Kumsieg both took sixth place.

The Royals earned one state tournament medal; Bret Wilson at 132, earned sixth place, he completed his season with a 42-7 record. Sam Essendrup at 120 went 0-2, he ended his season with a 32-17 record. Wil Yasseri at 126 went 0-2, he ended his season with a 29-16 record. Jake Born went 0-1 at 152, he ended his season with a 33-11 record.

NORTH BRANCH VIKINGS

The Vikings defeated St. Paul Johnson 51-24 in the quarterfinal Section 4AA dual and in the semifinals, they were defeated by Lean and Mean South St. Paul 65-11. The Vikings had two that went 2-0 in the Section duals; Ashton Labelle and Brandon Swanson. The Vikings earned six Section 4AA Individual Tournament place winners, including two state qualifiers. Ashton LaBelle and Brandt Bombard, both earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Austin Sonnek earned third place, Jack Anderson earned fourth place and Sam Sonnek and Brandon Swanson both took sixth place.

The Vikings did not earn any medals at the state tournament, Ashton LaBelle went 1-2 at 106, he completed his season with a 35-13 record. Brandt Bombard at 113 went 0-2, he completed his season with a 32-13 record.

 

CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats defeated St. Paul Humboldt 48-18 in their Section 4AA preliminary dual. In the semifinals the Wildcats were defeated by Lean and Mean South St. Paul 64-12. The Wildcats had three that went 2-0 in the section duals; Andrew Novack, Zach Carlson and Jake Novack. The Wildcats earned seven place winners at the Section 4AA Individual tournament, with including two state qualifiers. Zach Carlson won the section championship and Josh Wenthe earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Jake Novack earned third place, Charlie Schumacher, Brendan Huffman and Connor Bleymeyer all earned fifth place and Andrew Novack took sixth place.

Wildcats did not earn a medal at the state tournament; Josh Wenthe at 160, went 0-2, he ended his season with a 18-12 record. Zach Carlson at 285 went 1-2, he completed his season with a 23-9 record.

 

MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic defeated Zimmerman in their Section 6AA preliminary dual 59-21 and they were defeated by the No. 5AA Foley in the quarterfinals 71-4. Carsten Scherber went 2-0 in the section duals. Carsten Scherber also won his 100th Career match. The Magic earned six Section 6AA place winners, including one state qualifier. Jesse Midas won their lone section championship and Carsten Scherber and Zach Zavadil both earned fourth place. Nelson Anderson, Alex Smjeja and Eddy Jordan all earned fifth place.

 

The Magic’s Jesse Midas went 2-2 at 220, just short one match of placing, he ended his season with a 31-15 record.

 

 

GRANITE RIDGE CONFERENCE

The Granite Ridge Conference had eighteen state qualifiers and six section champions. They had eight medal winners at the state tournament.

 

FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons defended their Section 6AA dual title with three big wins; they defeated Monticello in the quarterfinals 71-4 and in the Semifinals they defeated Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple 39-23. The championship match was almost a replay of last year, what an intense dual between two very good teams. The Falcons defeated the No. 10AA Litchfield 29-26, not till after a 3X OT match at heavy weight. Nathan Garceau, Mitch Rothfork, Saylor Schmit and Mitch Trigg all went 3-0; Hunter Gorecki went 2-0 and Cameron Kowitz, John Dierkes, Connor Thorsten, Justin Henry and Levi Jacobson all went 2-1 in the section duals. The Falcons had a good Section 6AA Individual tournament with thirteen section place winners. This includes seven state qualifiers; three section championships were earned by Mitch Trigg, Saylor Schmit and Nate Garceau. Cameron Kowitz, John Dierkes, Mitch Rothfork and Justin Henry all earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Michael Rothfork and Connor Thorsten bother earned third place and Levi Jacobson and Hunter Gorecki both earned fourth place. Max Lefebvre earned fifth place and Ethan Oswald took sixth place.

The Falcons had a good state tournament, they earned fifth place; after they were defeated by the section 8 champion, Perham 31-25. They came back to win two duals, they defeated the Section 5 champions Totino Grace 45-25 and the section 4 champions South St. Paul 44-26. Nathan Garceau and Mitch Trigg both went 3-0, Cameron Kowitz, John Dierkes, Connor Thorsten, Justin Henry and Saylor Schmit all went 2-1 and Mitch Rothfork went 2-0 in the state tournament duals. The Falcons earned five state tournament medals, including four second places. Mitch Trigg at 285 earned second place, he completed his senior year with a impressive 47-3 record. Saylor Schmit at 195 earned second place, he completed his senior year with a 26-2 record. Justin Henry at 170 earned second place, he completed his senior year with a 39-14 season record. John Dierkes at 138 earned second place, he completed his senior year with a 37-10 record. Nathan Garceau at 113 earned fourth place, he completed his senior season with a 36-5 record. Cameron Kowitz at 126 went 2-2, just one match from placing, he completed his senior season with 41-11 record.

 

 

LITTLE FALLS FLYERS

The Flyers defeated Brainerd in their Section 8AAA quarterfinal dual 35-28 and they they dropped their semifinal dual to No. 5AAA Willmar 56-18. The Flyers had four that went 2-0 at the section duals; Gabe Nagel, Sam Nagel, Grant Litke and Simon Bryce. The Flyers had eight section 8AAA place winners, including three state qualifiers. Sam Nagel won their lone section championship and Gabe Nagel and Simon Bryce both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Grant Litke earned third place, Tony Winkelman, Ryan Graves and Simon Pantzke all earned fourth place and Dakota Kern took sixth place.

The Flyers had one state medal winner; Simon Bryce at 152, he earned sixth place, he ended his senior season with a 43-8 record.

 

 

BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs were defeated in their Section 6AA quarter final dual by Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 36-30. The Bulldogs had eight section 6AA place winners, including one state qualifier. Lukas Paulson earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Ethan Anderson and Kylen Rish both earned third place. Blake Paulson, Logan Jurek and Nick Radunz all earned fourth place and Kevin Andres and Mason Doucette both took sixth place.

The Bulldogs Lukas Paulson at 120, went 0-2, he completed his season with a 29-10 record.

 

ALBANY HUSKIES

The Huskies were defeated in their Section 6AA preliminary section dual by 49-18. The Huskies had seven section 6AA place winners, including one state qualifier. Gabe Zierden won their lone section champion, to remain unbeaten on the season at 35-0. Marvin Stang earned third place and Dustin Schmitt earned fourth place. Owen Meyer and Austin Olmscheid both earned fifth place and William Mergen and Javier Solis both took sixth place.

The Huskies Gabe Zierden at 182 earned fourth place, he completed his junior season with a very impressive 39-2 record.

 

MORA MUSTANGS

The Mustangs defeated Pine City/Hinckley-Finlayson 72-6 in their Section 7AA quarterfinal dual. In the semifinals they edged Hibbing 36-35, the Championship went to Lean and Mean Grand Rapids 45-25. Ryan Nosbush, Dan Schroeder and Jon Smith all went 3-0 and Tom Schroeder, Hunter Fredrickson, Cody Haggberg and Max Anderson all went 2-1 in the section duals. The Mustangs had twelve section place winners, including three state qualifiers.

The Mustangs Ryan Nosbush went 0-2 at 120, he ended his season with a 39-4 record. Jon Smith at 152, went 0-2, he completed his junior season with a 31-17 record. Danny Schroder at 160, went 0-1, he completed his junior season with 28-8 record.

 

MILACA WOLVES

The Wolves dropped Section 7AA quarterfinal dual to Princeton 37-36. The Wolves had a good Section 7AA Individual tournament with eleven place winners, including three state qualifiers. Jon Hall, Gage Thomas-Ferry and Craig Santema all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Garrett Hall and Ian Hanson both earned third place and Zach Salben, Brody Ash and Bodee Zens all earned fourth place. Ben Hanson, Moses Danilyuk and William Danilyuk all took sixth place.

The Wolves earned one state tournament medal by Gage Thomas-Ferry at 145, he earned fourth place, he completed his senior year with a 13-11 record. Jon Hall at 126 went 0-1, he ended his senior year with a 26-10 record. Craig Santema at 220 went 0-2, he ended his senior year with a 20-13 record.

 

ZIMMERMAN THUNDER

The Thunder were defeated by Monticello 59-21 in their Section 6AA preliminary dual. The Thunder had four section 6AA place winners; Justin Robinson earned third, Joe Gardas earned fourth, Jack Montplaisir earned fifth place and Cody Frederick took sixth place.

 

CENTRAL LAKES CONFERENCE

The Central Lakes Conference has nineteen state qualifiers and eleven section champions. They had eight medal winners at the state tournament, Including the four place AAA team.

 

WILLMAR CARDINALS

The Cardinals defended their section dual title with a win over Sartell/St. Stephen 58-12 in the Section 8AAA quarterfinals. In the semifinals the Cards defeated Little Falls 56-18 and in the championship it went right down to 285. The Cardinals edged Bemidji 31-30 in a match not decided till heavy weight. Israel Navarro, Clay Carlson, Cael Carlson and Lincoln Shinn all went 3-0 and Jack Roehl and Ethan Roux both 2-1 in the section duals. The Cardinals had an impressive performance at the Section 8AAA individual tournament. All fourteen wrestlers were place winners, including seven state qualifiers. Kaden Streed and Jack Roehl both earned fifth place, Josiah Swanson and Bryce Erickson took sixth place.

The Cardinals earned fourth place, with a big win over Section 1 champion and No. 6 ranked Albert Lea 50-18 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals they were defeated by the No. 1 ranked and No. 2 seeded Shakopee 32-30 in a very close dual. The Cardinals were defeated by the No. 3 ranked No. 1 seeded Anoka in the third place match 30-22. Lincoln Shinn at 170 went 1-2 as he had to default, he ended his junior year with a 38-5 record. Ethan Roux at 160, went 0-2, he ended his sophomore year with a 26-14 record. Charlie Farhat at 285, went 1-2, he ended his junior year with a 22-11 record. Caden Carlson at 106, went 0-1, he completed his season with a 32-10 record.

 

 

ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers defeated cross town rival Sauk Rapids/Rice in the Section 8AAA quarterfinals 54-15 they were defeated by Lean and Mean Bemidji 35-27. Alex Kern, Dallas Hooper, Taylor Hugg, Graham Nistler, Austin Brenner and Isaiah Green all went 2-0 at the section duals. The Tigers had a good section 8AAA individual tournament with ten place winners, including five state qualifiers. Austin Brenner, Dallas Hooper and Alex Kern all won section championships. Graham Nistler and Isaiah Green both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Jayden Sundstrom and Drew Kiffmeyer had very good tournaments, they both earned third place. Taylor Hugg earned fourth place, Jack Latterell earned fifth place and Aaron Voigt took sixth place.

The Tigers had a very good state tournament, as they earned four state tournament medals. Austin Brenner at 160, earned second place, he closed out his senior year with an impressive 44-4 record. Dallas Hooper at 145, earned fourth place, he closed out his senior year with a very good 44-10 record. Alex Kern at 126, earned fifth place, he closed out a injured plagued season with a 29-8 record. Isaiah Green at 220 earned fifth place place, he is just sophomore, he completed his season record with a 33-8 record. Graham Nistler at 170 went 0-2, he closed out his senior season with a 39-12 record.

SARTELL/ST. STEPHEN SABRES

The Sabres defeated Alexandria 44-31 in their Section 8AAA preliminary dual. The were defeated by No. 5AAA Willmar in the quarterfinals 58-12. Dylan Enriquez, Nick Pelach and Cole Fibranz all went 2-0 in the section duals. Special note; Sam Fernholz won his 50th Career Match at the Section 8AAA duals. The Sabres had seven section place winners, including three state qualifiers. Cole Fibranz won their lone section championship. Nick Pelach and Jackson Penk both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Dylan Enriquez and Jack Engle both earned fifth place and Patrick Hesse and Ashton Lipinski both took sixth place. Special notes: Nick Pelach 126 Pounds Won his 125 Career Match. Patrick Hesse 132 pounds won his 50th Career Match.

The Sabres Cole Fibranz at 220 earned third place, he completed his junior season with an impressive 43-2 record. Jackson Penk at 120, went 2-2, just one match from placing. He completed his junior season with an 41-10 record.

BRAINERD WARRIORS

The Warriors were defeated by Little Falls 35-28 in the Section 8AAA quarterfinals. They had nine section place winners, including one state qualifier. Chad Osburn earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Atlie Danielson, Brad Patnode and Kyle Patnode all earned third place. Danny Busbey earned fourth place, Braden Kramer earned fifth place and Morgan Gibson and Isaiah Boberg both took sixth place.

 

The Warriors, Chad Orsburn at 113 went 0-1, he completed his senior year with a 27-7 record.

 

 

SAUK RAPIDS/RICE STORM

The Storm were defeated in their Section 8AAA quarterfinal dual by cross town rivals Lean and Mean St. Cloud Tech 56-15. The Storm earned five Section 8AAA place winners, including one state qualifier. Jared Spohn won their lone section championship at 113 pounds. Andrew Syvertson earned fourth place, Marcus Santillana earned fifth place and Gage Donovan and Andrew Wollack both took sixth place.

The Storm’s Jared Spohn at 113, went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a 37-4 record.

 

 

ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans were defeated by Moorhead on criteria 37-36 in their Section 8AAA preliminary dual. The Spartans earned five section place winner, including Max Court and Austin Moscho both earned fourth place. Dylan Schafer and Nate Evans both earned fifth place and Gavin Winter took sixth place.

 

ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS

The Cardinals were defeated in their Section 8AAA preliminary dual by Sartell-St. Stephen 44-31. The Cardinals earned seven Section 8AAA place winners, including Adam Kremer and Chandler Cole both earned third place. Ryan Borris earned fourth place, Trappier Botz and Logan Runge both earned fifth place. A J Sparr earned sixth place and Jack Roth took seventh place.

 

FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters defeated Park Rapids 36-31 in their Section 8AA preliminary dual. They were defeated in the Section 8AA quarterfinals by No. 4AA Perham 82-0. The Otters earned three section place winners. Including their heavy weight, Dustin Portales won their lone championship. Kaden Hartwell earned fourth place and Cole Fronning took sixth place.

The Otter’s Dustin Portales at 285 went 2-2, just one match short of earning a medal. He completed his sophomore season with a 26-5 record.

 

ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles were defeated by Dassel Cokato 60-20 in their Section 6AA preliminary dual. The Eagles earned six section place winners, including one state qualifier. Brett Kirchner earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Nick Gill earned third place and Zach Willard earned fifth place. Jacob Onofrey and Isaac Erickson-Theomke both earned sixth place and Carlos Agee took seventh place.

The Eagles, Brett Kirchner at 160, went 1-2, he completed his senior season with a 34-10 mark.

 

WEST CENTRAL CONFERENCE

The Central Minnesota Conference qualified twenty to the state tournament, including ten section champions. They earned one medal at the state tournament
DAWSON-BOYD/LAC QUI PARLE/MONTEVIDEO UNITED

The United were defeated in their Section 3AA quarterfinal dual by Worthington 42-26. The United had ten section place winners, including four state qualifiers. Peyton Mortenson and Sam Henriksen both won section championships and Trevon Johnson and Austin Schmitt both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Sam Zindel earned fourth place, Griffin Johnson, Kadin Huntley, Keaton Haas and Layton Wittenbel all earned fifth place and Tanner Johnson took seventh place.

The United earned one state tournament medal, by Peyton Mortenson at 160. He earned second place. He completed his senior season with a very impressive 41-3 record. ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS

The Falcons are back to the state tourney after a couple of years of hiatus. The Falcons defeated Eden Valley-Watkins 72-3 in the Section 4A quarterfinals. In the semifinals they defeated Central Minnesota Conference foes Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 53-13. In the championship the Falcons defeated their Section 4A for the second time this season; Sibley East 28-25. Kelvin Ponce, Jake Mortensen, Ramzee Molinaro, Chase Arndt, CJ. Toedter and Tanner Berghuis all went 3-0 and Hayden Straumann, Levi Lund and Taylor Fester all went 2-1 at the section duals. The Falcons had a great Section 4A individual tournament, as all their wrestlers were section place winners. The Falcons had six state qualifiers, including four section championships by: C J Toedter, Tanner Berghuis, Kelvin Andrade-Ponce and Jake Mortensen. Ramzee Molinaro and Hayden Straumann both earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament.

The Falcons were defeated in their quarterfinal dual by the Section 8 champion, No. 2 seeded Frazee 41-10 and in the their consolation semifinals they were defeated by the Section 7 champion Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena 30-27 in a very close dual. Kelvin Andrade-Ponce was their lone wrestler that went 2-0 in the state duals. Kelvin at 106 went 2-2, he completed his sophomore season with a 38-10 record. Jake Mortensen at 113 went 2-2, just one match from earning a medal. He completed his eighth grade season with 29-11 record. Ramzee Molinaro at 120, went 2-2, he completed his sophomore season with a 40-10 record. Hayden Straumann at 126 went 0-1, he completed his freshman season with a 30-16 record. C. Toedter at 182 went 1-2, he completed his senior season with 34-14 record. Tanner Berghuis at 220 went 1-2, he completed his sophomore season with 34-14 record.

 

MINNEWASKA AREA LAKERS

The Lakers defeated Paynesville 42-31 in their Section 5A quarterfinal dual. In the semifinals the Lakers were defeated by the No. 3A Long Prairie/Grey Eagle/Browerville 50-17. Mason Blair, Grant Hendren, Tyler VanLuik and Tyson Meyer all went 2-0 in the Section duals. The Lakers earned ten place winners at Section 5A, including three state qualifiers. Tyler VanLuik and Grant Hendren both won section championships and Tyson Meyer earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Jakob Swalla had a very good tournament, he earned third place and Mason Blair earned fourth place. Max Reichmann, Mateo Arrendando, Easton McCrory and John Helander all earned fifth place and Ryan VanLuik took sixth place.

The Lakers didn’t earn any state medals, Grant Hendren at 160 went 0-1, he completed his junior season with a 34-8 record. Tyson Meyer at 170 went 0-1, he completed his freshman year with a very good 39-6 record. Tyler VanLuik at 195 went 2-2, just one match from earning a medal. He completed his sophomore season with a very good 42-5 record.

 

NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcats defeated Morris Area in their Section 3AA preliminary dual 52-12. They were defeated by Marshall 64-12 in their Section 3AA quarterfinal dual. Ty Bisek, Blake Vagle and Tim Thein all went 2-0 in the section duals. The Wildcats had six section 3AA place winners, including Blake Vagle at 106. He earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Sam Stageberg earned third place, Nathan Thein and Nick McKenzie both earned fourth place. Luke Ruter earned fifth place and Nathan Vosika-Scherzle took sixth place.

The Wildcats, Blake Vagle at 106, he went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a 34-8 record.

 

MORRIS AREA TIGERS

The Tigers were defeated in their Section 3AA preliminary dual by New London-Spicer 52-12. The Tigers earned ten place winners, including one state qualifier at the Section 3AA tournament. Gage Wevley earned second place, to punch his ticket to state tournament. Ethan Lebrija earned third place and Brady Cardwell and Jed Feuchtenberger both earned fourth place. Davin Rose, Dalton Rose, Tristan Raths and Bain Laine all earned sixth place and Josh Rohloff and Christian Dodds both took seventh place.

The Tigers Gage Wevley at 220 went 0-2, he completed his senior year with a 32-14 season record.

 

BENSON BRAVES

The Braves were defeated in their Section 5A quarterfinal dual by Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 48-24. The Braves earned seven section place winners at the Section 5A tournament, including two state qualifiers. Dylan Stewart and Hunter Monder both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tourney. Jared Knutson earned third place and Aaron Zosel earned fourth place. Wyatt Mages, Grant Evenson both earned fifth place and Kaden Kurkosky took sixth place.

The Braves Hunter Mondor at 120, went 0-1, he completed an injured plagued junior season with a 8-6 record. Dylan Stewart at 182, went 0-1, he completed his junior season with a 25-20 record.

 

BOLD WARRIORS

The Warriors defeated Osakis 52-30 in the Section 5A preliminary dual and in the quarterfinals, they were defeated by Long Prairie/Grey Eagle/Browerville 63-10. Nicholas Compton, Hayden Tersteeg and Antony Maher all went 2-0 at the section duals. The Warriors earned seven place winners at the Section 5A tournament, including one state qualifier. Austin Einerson at 285 won their lone section championship. Nicholas Compton and Hayden Tersteeg both earned third place and Jesse Manderscheid earned fourth place. Tim Peppel earned fifth place and Anthony Maher and Brady Ridler both took sixth place.

The Warriors, Austin Einerson at 285, went 0-1, he completed his senior year with a 30-8 record.

 

SAUK CENTRE/MELROSE

The Coop was defeated in their Section 8AA preliminary dual by United Clay Becker 37-25. The Coop had seven section 8AA place winners, including two state qualifiers. Luke Glasener earned a section championship at 145 and Lazaro Garcia earned second place at 106, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Sam Sjorgren earned fourth place, Brayan Raya earned fifth place and Danny Thomas, Karter Wensmann and Roberto Raya all took sixth place.

The Coop’s Luke Glasener at 145, went 0-1, he completed his senior season with a 26-10 record. Lazaro Garcia at 106, went 0-2, he completed his sophomore season with a 30-9 record.

 

 

PARK REGION CONFERENCE

The Park Region Conference had thirty six state qualifiers, including sixteen section champions. They had sixteen medal winners at the state tournament. Two teams earned medals as LPGE/BR earned fourth place and OTC earned fifth place. Two state championships were won by Park Region Conference wrestlers.

 

LONG PRAIRIE/GREY EAGLE/BROWERVILLE WOLVES

The Wolves defeated BOLD 63-10 in the Section 5A quarterfinal dual and in the semifinals they defeated Minnewaska Area 50-17. The Wolves earned the Section 5A Dual championship over defending champion Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 42-15. Carter Meiners, Justin Crandall, Keegan Cavallero and Devin Lange all went 3-0, Dalton Butler, Landon Gode, Nye Becker, Ted Stacey and Caleb Pesta all went 2-1 and Mason Gode and Hans Holmquist both went 2-0 at the Section 5A duals. The Wolves had a very good Section 5A Individual tournament with fourteen place winners, including five state qualifiers. Justin Crandall, Mason Gode and Keegan Cavallero all won section championships. Carter Meiners and Devin Lange both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Landon Gode, Nye Becker, Dalton Butler and Hans Holmquist all earned third place and Levi Line earned fourth place. Thomas Pesta, Caleb Pesta and Austin Carr all earned fifth place and Ted Stacey took sixth place.

The Wolves earned fourth place, they defeated Section 7 champion, Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena 43-13. In the semifinals they were defeated by the Section 8 champion and no. 2 seed Frazee 38-20. In the third place match, they were defeated by Section 3 champion and No. 4 seed Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Walnut Grove 38-18. Landon Gode, Mason Gode and Thomas Pesta all went 3-0 and Carter Meiners and Dalton Butler both went 2-1 in the state duals. Carter Meiners at 106 earned fifth place, he completed his freshman season with a very good 40-8 record. Mason Gode at 126 earned sixth place, he completed his freshman season with a very good 41-9 record. Justin Crandall at 113 went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a good 36-8 record. Keegan Cavallero at 182 went 0-1, he completed his senior season with a 37-12 record. Devin Lange at 285 went 0-1, he completed his senior season with a 28-15 record.

 

OTTERTAIL CENTRAL BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs made history as they earned their first trip to the state tourney in school history. They are also the second team from the Park Region Conference to qualify for the state tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Breckenridge 64-6 in the Section 6A quarterfinals. In the semifinals they defeated long time rival New York Mills 45-17. In the Championship, many people would consider an upset, as they defeated defending championship West Central Area 30-27, in a very good dual. R J Ehlert, Ben Naddy, Nate Hart and Zane Swanson all went 3-0 and Laredo Bugbee, Matt Hendricks, Hayden Hart, Alex Erlandson and Wyatt Thorson all went 2-1 in the section duals. The Bulldogs had a good Section 6A Individual tournament with all fourteen placing, including five state qualifiers. Ben Naddy, Nate Hart, Marc Hendricks and Zane Swanson all won section championships and R J Ehlert earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Laredo Bugbee and Matt Hendricks both earned third place and they earned a trio of fourth places by: Wyatt Thorson, Alex Erlandson and Kevin Tierney. Jace Leabo earned fifth place and Hayden Hart, Hunter Doll and Ramon Lopez-Moen all took sixth place.

The Bulldogs earned fifth place with a couple of big dual meet wins; they were defeated in the quarterfinals by the section 1 and No. 1 seed Zumbrota-Mazzeppa 37-19. They defeated the section 2 champion, Kenyon-Wanamingo 55-15 and in the fifth place dual, they defeated section 7 champion Blackduck/Cass Lake/Bena 39-23. Ben Naddy, Nate Hart, Matt Hendricks and R J Ehlert all went 3-0 and Matt Hendricks, Zane Swanson, Alex Erlandson and Wyatt Thorson all went 2-1 at the state tournament duals. Ben Naddy at 113 won the state championship, he completed his senior season with a very good 39-1 record. Marc Hendricks at 120, earned sixth place, he completed his senior season with a good 42-9 record. Nate Hart at 132, he earned fourth place, he completed his senior season with a good 46-3 record. R J Ehlert at 285, earned sixth place. He competed his senior season with a 33-15 record. Zane Swanson at 152, went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a 34-15 record.

 

 

WEST CENTRAL AREA KNIGHTS

The Knights defeated Barnesville 66-9 in the Section 6A quarterfinal dual and they defeated Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie in the semifinals 43-28. The Knight fell just short of defending their Section 6A dual championship, as they were defeated by Ottertail Central 30-27 in a very close dual. Anthony Sykora, Jordan Lohse, Kaden Spindler, Levi Larkin and Mason Nibbe all went 3-0 and Kaleb Getz, Hunter Mickelson, Alex Butcher, Wyatt Olson and Chris Onstad all went 2-1 in the section duals. The Knights had a very good Section 6A Individual tournament with fourteen place winners, including six state qualifiers. Kaden Spindler, Levi Larkin, Mason Nibbe and Kale Getz all won championships. Wyatt Olson and Anthony Sykora both earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Alex Butcher earned third place and Hunter Mickelson, Devin Stone, Jordan Lohse and Rueben Swanson all earned fourth place. Hunter Hanson, Chris Onstad and John Barber all earned fifth place.

The Knights earned two medals at the state tournament; Kaden Spindler at 160, earned third, he completed his senior year with a very good 44-5 record. The Coop defeated their big rivals Staples-Motley 39-33 in the Section 6A quarterfinal dual and they dropped their semifinal dual to the defending championship West Central Area 43-28. Quinn Kern, Devin Dean, Gideon Ervasti, Holt Truax and Craig Orlando all went 2-0 in the section duals. The Coop had nine section 6A place winners, including five state qualifiers. Holt Truax and Craig Orlando both won section championships and Devin Dean, Trevor Arceneau and Gideon Ervasti all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Quinn Kern earned third place, Hunter Dean and Brock Peterson both earned fourth place and Deagan Captain earned fifth place.

The Coop earned a pair of medals, including a state championship by Craig Orlando at 285. Craig, a sophomore completed his season with a very good 42-3 record. Holt Truax at 182 earned second place, he completed his senior year with a very good 43-1 season record. Trever Arceneau at 132 went 0-2, he completed his junior season with a 33-19 record. Devin Dean at 145 went 0-1, he completed his junior season with a 37-16 record. Gideon Ervasti at 152 went 0-1, he completed his eighth grade season with a 25-18 record.

 

NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles defeated Border West 43-27 in their Section 6A quarterfinal dual. The Eagles were defeated in the Section 6A semifinals Ottertail Central 45-17. Dane Niemi, Dylan Fischer, Matt Frost, Jake Erckenbrack and Charlie Fox all went 2-0 in the their section duals. The Eagles had a very good Section 6A Individual tournament, with eleven place winners, including 6 state qualifiers. Jake Erckenbrack and Dane Niemi both won section championships and Matt Frost, Carter Haman, Gabe Geiser and Bren Salo all earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. The Eagles earned three third places, with Logan Small dropping a overtime true second match, Charlie Fox dropping a one point true second match and Dylan Fischer was defeated in his true second match. Brandon Wirre earned fifth place and Alex Sandoval took sixth place.

The Eagles earned one medal by Jake Erckenbrack at 195, he earned sixth place, he completed his senior season with a 36-5 record. The Royals had a good day as they defeated Crosby-Ironton in the Section 7A quarterfinals 52-24. In the semifinals they reversed the previous results with Aitkin, as they lost by five points in the first time around. They defeated Aitkin 42-20 in the Section 7A semifinals. In the championship they were defeated by Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena 46-28. Jacob Leibold, Jackson Held, Jason Kasella and Mason Novitzki all went 3-0 and Sam Constanzo, Gabe Gorecki, Damian Theisen and Lyle Zimmerman all went 2-1 in the section duals. The Royals had a very good Section 7A individual tournament with twelve place winners, including five state qualifiers. Jason Kasella, Jackson Held and Marshall Meehl all won section championships and Lyle Zimmerman and Jacob Leibold both earned second place. Cole Wentland and Wyatt Lahr both earned third place and Sam Constanzo, Will Gorecki and Mason Novitzki all earned fourth place. Damien Theisen and Brady Conrad both earned fifth place and Gabe Gorecki took sixth place.

The Royals earned three state tournament medals, Jason Kasella at 220 earned second place, he completed his senior season with a very good 42-2 record. Jackson Held at 160 earned fourth place, he completed his junior season with a very good 43-6 record. Marshall Meehl at 182 earned fifth place, he completed his senior season with a 29-14 record. Lyle Zimmerman at 170, went 1-2, he completed his senior season with a 21-11 record. UNITED NORTH CENTRAL WARRIORS

The Warriors were defeated by Fosston-Bagley 46-29 in their Section 8A quarterfinal dual. The Warriors earned eight section place winners, including one state qualifier. Toby Hintzman won their lone section championship and Isaac Tellers, Ethan Hendrickson and Jared Siebert all earned third place. Brock Kato earned fourth place and Ethan Trout, Dakota Meech and Mason Bradley all earned fifth place.

The Warriors, Toby Hintzman at 152 went 1-2, he was defeated in his first wrestle back match 5-4, by the wrestler that earned third place. Toby completed his senior season with a 33-4 record.

 

OSAKIS SILVERSTREAKS

The Silverstreaks were defeated by BOLD in their Section 5A preliminary dual. They had five section place winners, including two state qualifiers; Colton Waldvogel and Gage Zieske both won section championships. Nathan Kulzer earned third place and Jeran Baker and Dominic Strom both took sixth place.

The Silverstreaks earned a pair of state tournament medals, Gage Zieske at 138 earned second place, he completed his senior season with a very good 44-2 record. Colton Waldvogel at 170 earned fourth place, he completed his senior season with a very good 37-3 record.

 

WADENA/DEER CREEK WOLVERINES

The Wolverines were defeated by Breckendridge 42-39 in the Section 6A preliminary dual. The Wolverines earned six Section 6A place winners, including one state qualifier. Steven Erkenbrack earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Jayson Young, Braeden Seibert, Jericho Baker and Cody Wheeler all earned sixth place and Logan Wegscheid took seventh place.

The Wolverines, Steve Erkenbrack at 170 went 0-1, he completed his senior season with a 31-10 record.

 

CENTRAL MINNESOTA CONFERENCE

The Central Minnesota Conference qualified seventeen to the state tournament, including nine section champions. They earned six medals at the state tournament.

 

PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers defeated Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus in the Section 8AA quarterfinals 55-21. They dropped their semifinal dual to Lean and Mean Detroit Lakes 51-18. Jake Andres, Austin Radunz and Carson Huls all went 2-0 at the Section duals. The Pioneers had a good Section 8AA individual tournament with twelve place winners, including six state qualifiers. Jake Andres won their lone section championship and Brandon Tomala and Carson Huls both earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Reese Kapsner and Austin Radunz both earned third place and Brandon Funk, Jalen Jansen and Luke Girtz all earned fourth place. Riley Hoskins earned fifth place and Trevor Radunz and Jacob Gotvald took sixth place.

The Pioneers did not earn any state tournament medals, Jake Andres at 120 went 2-2, he was just one match short of earning a medal. He completed his junior season with a 41-5 record. Brandon Tomala at 145 went 0-1, he completed his junior season with a 24-14 record. Carson Huls at 220 went 1-2, he completed his junior season with a 36-8 record.

BELGRADE-BROOTEN-ELROSA JAGUARS

The Jaguars defeated Quad County 67-11 in their Section 5A quarterfinal dual. In the semifinals the Jaguars, just didn’t get their match ups they wanted, as they were defeated by the defending Section 5A champions Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 31-30, the Jaguars did win eight of the fourteen matches. Canon Swanson, Tyler Bents, Dylan T Kampsen, Adam Jaeger and Trevor Kern all went 2-0 in the section duals. The Jaguars had a very good Section 5A Individual tournament with twelve place winners, including six state qualifiers. Adam Jaeger, Canon Swanson and Tyler Bents all won section championships and Isaiah Gilbert, Blaine Fischer and Tyler Jensen all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Trevor Kern, Mark Jenniges and Walker Bents all earned fourth place and Dylan T. Kampsen and Seth Roering both earned fifth place and Taiton Linder took seventh place.

The Jaguars had a very good state tournament, as they earned four state medals and they won the traditional state tournament on individual points. Adam Jaeger at 152 won the championship, he completed his senior year with a very good 34-0 record. Canon Swanson at 120 earned second place, he completed his sophomore season with a very good 47-3 record. Tyler Bents at 132 earned third place, he completed his junior season with a very good 46-8 record. Blaine Fischer at 113 earned sixth place, he completed his eighth grade season with a 40-16 record. Isaiah Gilbert at 160 went 0-1, he completed his senior season with a good 41-10 record. Tyler Jensen at 126 went 0-1, he completed his eighth grade season with a 35-15 record.

 

PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs were defeated in the Section 5A quarterfinal dual by Minnewaska 42-31. The Bulldogs had a good Section 5A Individual tournament with twelve place winners, including two state qualifiers. Grant Ludwig won the championship at 220 and Shawn Rue earned second place to punch his ticket to the state tournament. The Bulldogs had four wrestlers earn third place; three were defeated in their true second matches; Daltin Christinsen, Weston Roberg and Craig Schmitz and Duncan McNabb won his third place match. Lucas Peterson earned fourth place, Jarod Veldkamp, Riley Messe and Brett Mages all earned sixth place and Lucas Holtz took seventh place.

The Bulldogs, Grant Ludwig earned fifth place at 220, he completed his senior season with a 37-8 record. Shawn Rue at 132 went 2-2, just one match from earning a medal. He completed his junior season with a 39-4 record.

 

KIMBALL AREA CUBS

The Cubs defeated St. Agnes 57-20 in the Section 4A quarterfinal dual. In the semifinals they were defeated by the defending champions Sibley East 50-17. Coy Leither, Zach Holtz, Ben Zipoy and Payton Schiefelbein all went 2-0 in their section duals. The Cubs had a very good Section 4A individual tournament with twelve place winners, including four state qualifiers. Payton Schielebein and Zac Holtz won section championships and Ben Zipoy and Austin Donny both earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Michael Donnay, Carter Holtz and Alex Nelson all earned third place and Zack Schiefelbein and Cody Leither both earned fourth place. Brandon Guggisberg earned fifth place and Nicholas Bowen and Jacob Zobeck both took sixth place.

The Cub’s Zach Holtz at 145 earned fourth place, he completed his freshmen season with a 40-8 record. Payton Schiefelbein at 138 went 2-2, just one match from earning a medal. He completed his senior season with a 36-8 record.

 

HOWARD LAKE/WAVERLY/WINSTED LAKERS

The Lakers defeated Norwood Young America in the Section 4A quarterfinal dual 40-35. They were defeated by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 53-13 in the Section 4A semifinals. Elijah Riemer, Donny Mosford and Collin Boese all went 2-0 in the section duals. The Lakers had a good Section 4A Individual tournament with ten place winners, including one state qualifier. Collin Boese won their lone section championship and Mitchell Mallek, Eric Williams, Dan Mosford and Elijah Riemer earned third place. Casey Diers, Ryan Tuchtehager and Joseph Schanus all earned fourth place and Isaac Busse and HunterDecker both took sixth place.

The Lakers Collin Boese at 132 went 0-1, he completed his seventh grade season with a 27-11 record.

 

HOLDINGFORD HUSKERS

The Huskers were defeated by Walker-Hackensack-Akeley-Nevis 42-33 in the their Section 7A preliminary dual. The Huskers earned six Section 7A place winners, including; Tate Lange, Alex Lange and Blake Sigler. James Welle earned fifth place and Trent Sand and Brandon Doll both took sixth place.

 

 

EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES

The Eagles defeated Trinity at River Ridge 49-16 in the Section 4A preliminary dual. They were defeated in the Section 4A quarterfinals by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 72-3. Taylor Ludwig was the lone wrestler that was 2-0 in the section duals. The Eagles earned seven section places in the Section 4A Individual tournament, including one state qualifier. Taylor Ludwig won their lone section championship and Zach Nistler, Trevyn Ludwig and Ethan Kay all earned third place. Gavin Mathies and Sam Nistler both earned fifth place and Carter Mathies took sixth place.

The Eagles, Taylor Ludwig at 126, went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a 30-15 record.

 

GREAT RIVER CONFERENCE

MILLE LACS RAIDERS

The Raiders were defeated by Deer River 48-36 in the Section 7A quarterfinal dual. They had a good Section 7A Individual tournament with nine place winners, including one state qualifier. Braden Willis earned second place, to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Macen Haggberg and Rease Peterson both earned third place and Jordan Burow, Teagen Haggberg and Eric Bassett all earned fourth place. Steven Rosekrans, Tucker Stecker and Ethan Benson all took sixth place.

The Lumberjacks defeated Nashwauk-Keewatin/Greenway 54-30 in their Section 7AA preliminary dual. The Lumberjacks were defeated in their Section 7AA quarterfinal dual by Grand Rapids 59-16. Tyler Harms-Synkiew, Griffin Fjeld and Justin Jones all went 2-0 in the Section 7AA duals. The Lumberjacks had ten Section 7AA section place winners. Griffin Fjeld, Justin Jones and Reese Miller- Sheldon all earned third place. Zeb Wehr and Jordan Allen both earned fourth place and Tyler Harms-Synkrew earned fifth place. Hunter Senarighi and Alex Peterson both earned sixth place and Sam Bowling and William Wilkerson both took seventh place.

 

 

RUSH CITY/BRAHAM TIGERS

The Tigers defeated Ogilvie 48-30 in their Section 7A preliminary dual. They were defeated by Lean and Mean Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena 62-15 in the Section 7A quarterfinals. Daniel Mielke, Devin Shellito and Tucker Leigland all went 2-0 in the Section 7A duals. The Tigers earned six Section 7A place winners, including one state qualifier. Dalton Mielke won their lone section championship, Daniel Mielke, Cory Clemmer and Devin Shellito all earned third place. Tucker Leigland earned fifth place and Landon Umbreit took sixth place.

The Tigers, Dalton Mielke at 170, went 0-2, he completed his senior season with a 35-5 record.

 

OGILVIE LIONS

The Lions were defeated in their Section 7A preliminary dual by Rush City/Braham 42-36. The Lions had seven place winners at the Section 7A Individual tournament, including one state qualifier. Alex Chidester won their lone section championship at 285. Braden Ryan earned third place, Beau Burk, Rhett Hudoba, Ethan Warren and Gavin McLevis all earned fifth place and Matthew Warren took sixth place.

The Lions, Alex Chidester at 285 went 2-2, he was just one match short of earning a medal. He completed his junior season with 33-7 record.

 

PINE CITY/HINCKLEY DRAGONS

The Dragons defeated Proctor-Hermantown 42-36 in the Section 7AA preliminary dual. They were defeated by Mora 72-6 in their Section 7AA quarterfinal dual. Carter Utecht went 2-0 for the Dragons at the Section 7AA duals. The Dragons had three place winners at the Section 7AA Individual tournament. Carter Utecht won their lone section championship and Gavin Rockstroh earned fourth place and Robert Decker earned fifth place.

The Lumberjacks defeated Moorhead 70-3 in their Section 8AAA quarterfinal dual. In the quarterfinal they defeated Lean and Mean St. Cloud Tech 35-27. The Lumberjacks dropped a very close dual in the Section 8AAA Championship to No. 5AAA Willmar 31-30. Seth Newby and Chance Hinrichs went 3-0; Joe Hudson and Colton Hinrichs went 2-1 and Bryce Golden, Nate Golden, Chase Smith and Kaleb Beam all went 2-0 in the Section 8AAA duals. The Lumberjacks had a very good Section 8AAA Individual tournament, with all fourteen wrestlers placing, including seven state qualifiers. Alex Pearce earned fourth place, Adam Sweeney earned fifth place and Tanner Burmeistser, Carter Entinger and Jordan Peterson all took sixth place.

The Dragons defeated Dassel Cokato 52-16 in their Section 6AA quarterfinal duals. They Dragons defeated AA Lean and Mean Big Lake 38-27 in their Section 6AA semifinal dual. The Dragons dropped a very close dual to No. 5AA Foley 29-26 in the Section 6AA championship dual. The championship dual wasn’t decided until after a 3XOT 285 match. Jerry Simes, Ezra Kaping, Afton Kaping, Bryce Penk and Kal Jackman all went 3-0; Eddie Simes, Dylan Madsen and Chase Liestman all went 2-1 and Logan Nelson went 2-0 at the Section 6AA duals. Special note Chase Liestman won his 75th Career Match. The Dragons had a very good Section 6AA Individual tournament with thirteen place winners, including seven state qualifiers. Logan Nelson, Jerry Simes, Ezra Kaping and Afton Kaping all won section championships. Chase Liestman, Kal Jackman and Eddie Simes all earned second place to punch their ticket to the state tournament. The Lightning defeated Becker 36-30 in their Section 6AA quarterfinal dual. They were defeated by the No. 1 seed and No. 5 ranked Foley 39-23 in the semifinals. Quinn Youngs, Hunter Manka, Walker Weege, Mitch Bergstrom and Cuyler Helwig all went 2-0 in the section duals. The Lightning earned eight section 6AA place winners, including five state qualifiers. Hunter Manka and Mitch Bergstrom both won section championships and Quinn Youngs, Walker Weege and Reed Rasset all earned second place to punch their tickets to the state. Adam Neuman earned third and Clark Helwig and Daniel Luna both earned fifth place.

The Lightning did earn two state tourney medals, Walker Weege at 152 earned third place, he complete his senior season with a 35-11 record. The Road Crew dropped their Section 8AA quarterfinal dual to Lean and Mean Pierz 55-21. The Road Crew had a good section 8AA individual tournament with nine place winners. Peter Koening and John Urseth both earned third place and Connor Tulenchik, Addisuone Harrington and Tim Ryan all earned fourth place. Jake Poheler, Evan Koering both earned fifth place and Keenan Dahl and Josh Pettit both earned sixth place.

 

ELK RIVER ELKS

The Elks were defeated in their Section 7AAA quarterfinal dual by the No. 7AAA Forest Lake 52-9. They had nine section 7AAA place winners, including two state qualifiers. Colton Pool and Lafayette Bade both got second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Brandon Kidd earned third and Logan Enkhaus earned fourth place. Seth Hopkins earned fifth place and Tyler Benson, Hunter Larson, Dominik Peterson and Stoyan Slavkov all took sixth place.

The Elks did not earn any state tournament medals, Lafayette Bade at 220 went 0-2, he completed his junior season with a 20-11 record. Colton Pool at 113 went 0-1, he completed his sophomore season with a 28-12 record.

 

KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints did put it together for a run at the end of the season; they defeated Benson 48-24 in their Section 5A quarterfinal dual. In the Semifinals they defeated No. 7A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 31-30, in a match where the Fighting Saints won just 6 matches, but did get all their match ups. In the Section 5A championship they were defeated by the No. 3A Long Prairie/Grey Eagle/Browerville 42-15. Will Magaard, Caleb Collins, Dylan Rudningen all went 3-0; Coy Gunderson, Jonathan Tostenson and Ryan Torkelson all went 2-1 at the Section 5A duals. The Fighting Saints had a good Section 5A Individual tournament with nine place winners, including five state qualifiers. Will Magaard and Caleb Collins both won section championships and Jonathan Tostenson, Dylan Rudningen and Ryan Torkelson all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. The Chargers defeated St. Cloud Apollo 60-20 in the Section 6AA preliminary dual. In their quarterfinal Section 6AA dual, they were defeated by Litchfield 52-16. Jude LInk, Prestin Bradley, Christian Johnson and Josh DeBoer all went 2-0 in their section duals. The Chargers earned ten section 6AA place winners, including three state qualifiers, Prestin Bradley won their lone section championship. Jacob Smith and Jude LInk both earned second place, to punch their tickets to the state tournament. Josh DeBoer and Will O’Brien both earned fourth place and Noah Halonen earned fifth place. Beau Nelson, Christian Johnson, Jack Selseth and Sam Marx all took sixth place.

The Cardinals were defeated in the Section 6A quarterfinals by Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 39-33 in a very good dual, that was decided at 285. The Cardinals had 7 section 6A place winners, including one state qualifier. Owen Bjerga won their lone section championship, Kyle Serich earned third place and Payton Bjerga and Brayden Christensen both earned fourth place. Braden Tyrell, Jonathan Lisson and Sam Jennissen all earned fifth place.

The Cardinals, Owen Bjerga at 138, earned sixth place, he completed his sophomore season with a 38-7 record.

MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds defeated Rocori 37-36 on criteria in the Section 8AAA preliminary dual. The Spuds were defeated by Lean and Mean Bemidji 70-3 in the Section 8AAA quarterfinal. Ryan Luthi was the lone Spud to go 2-0 in the Section 8AAA duals. The Spuds had five Section 8AAA place winners, including one state qualifier. Riley Schock won their lone section championship. Ryan Luthi and Gunner Olstad both earn third place, Kolbe Booker earned fourth place and Hayden Netlane took sixth place.

AITKIN GOBBLERS

The Gobblers defeated Walker/Hackensack/Ackley/Nevis in the Section 7A Quarterfinal dual. The Gobblers were defeated by Royalton/Upsala 42-20 in the Section 7A semifinals. Luke Pelarski, Tyler Spolarich, Carter Endrizzi and Cedric Fansworth all went 2-0 in the Section 7A duals. The Gobblers had a good Section 7A Individual tournament with twelve place winners, including four state qualifiers. Tyler Spolarich won their lone section championship and Luke Pelarski, Cedric Farnsworth and Carter Endrizzi all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Carson Kullhem earned third place, Jack Gravelle, Quinn Miller and Steven Whitney all earned fourth place. Jack Workman and Craig Ashton both earned fifth place and Andrew Eklund and Nathan Rom both took sixth place.

The Cobras defeated Ortonville in their Section 5A preliminary dual 46-33. In the Section 5A quarterfinal dual, they were defeated 67-11 by No. 7A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 67-11. Ayden Friese and Bryce Schmidt both went 2-0 in their Section 5A duals. The Cobras had eight section 5A placements, including two state qualifiers. Ayden Friese and Bryce Schmidt earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Sam Ohliger and Jack Howard both earned fourth place and Luke Kluver earned fifth place. Jayce Hernandez earned sixth place and Tristan Todd and Cole Fischer both took seventh place.

The Cowboys were defeated in their Section 6A quarterfinal dual by No. 7A Ottertail Central 64-6. The Cowboys earned six Section 6A place winners, Mason Meyer, Tanner Differding and Daniel Erlandson all earned third place. Gabe Diaz, Zach Haire and Aiden Ruddy all earned fifth place.

 

GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE PANTHERS

The Panthers were defeated in the Section 2AA preliminary dual to St. Peter 60-16. The Panthers earned one Section 2AA place winner, Carter Ruschmeier earned fourth place.

 

 

BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers were defeated in the Section 6A quarterfinal dual by New York Mills 43-27. The Buccaneers earned ten Section 6A place winners, including Jason Murphy and Cedric Barnes both earned third place. Micheal Dennis earned fourth place and Jacob Sanasack earned fifth place. Jace Olson, Erik Larson, Mark McCarthy and Lance Nelson all earned sixth place and Michael Niesen and Isaac Ebnet both took seventh place.

 

CROSBY-IRONTON RANGERS

The Rangers were defeated in their Section 7A quarterfinal dual by Lean and Mean Royalton/Upsala 54-24. The Rangers earned seven section 7A place winners, including three state qualifiers. Nate Williams, Kaven Blazek and Taylor Eigenheer all earned second place, to punch their ticket to the state tournament. Gabe Ryappy and Jon Fitzpatrick both earned third place, Jake Klancher earned fourth place and Josh Mienert took sixth place.

The Rangers, Kaven Blazek at 145, went 0-2, he completed his senior season with a 35-13 record. Nate Williams at 126 went 1-2, he completed his junior season with a 41-11 record. Taylor Eigenheer at 195 went 0-1, he completed his junior season with a 37-11 record.

 

ORTONVILLE TROJANS

The Trojans were defeated in their Section 5A preliminary dual by Quad County 46-33. The Trojans earned four section 5A place winners, including Elijah Cloos earned third place. Ben Eustice earned fourth plac, Deaven Boots earned fifth place and Tom Eustice took sixth place.
